From Milan to Glasgow: A Year of Photography Exhibitions
Women in Photography Exhibition, Glasgow 2026
I’m Luisa Young, a Nottingham-based editorial and portrait photographer known for cinematic, fashion-inspired imagery and, in the last twelve months, featured in several photography exhibitions across Europe and the UK — from Milan to Glasgow.
Faces Award 2025
In June last year, I had the wonderful opportunity to exhibit my work in Milan after being selected for the Faces Award 2025. The award selection was curated by StreetSoup together with Polaroid and the renowned Italian photographer Maurizio Galimberti. My photograph was exhibited at the beautiful Palazzo Bovara, an elegant historic building in the heart of Milan. Being part of an international exhibition and sharing space with photographers from around the world was both inspiring and deeply rewarding.
Later in the year, my work was also exhibited at the Glasgow Gallery of Photography as part of the Home exhibition, which ran throughout November. My photograph featured a very personal moment — my two children cooking with their Nonna, making homemade pasta together. It’s a simple family scene, but one that beautifully reflects the meaning of home: tradition, connection and moments shared across generations.
This month, I’m delighted to once again have work exhibited at the Glasgow Gallery of Photography as part of the Women in Photography exhibition.
The exhibition celebrates the creative voices of female photographers and the many ways women are shaping contemporary photography. My image featured in the exhibition captures a quiet moment in nature — a robin feeding its chick — a scene that reflects the fleeting moments and natural beauty I love to observe and photograph.
Alongside these exhibitions, my work is also featured on my portfolio with Vogue Italia’s PhotoVogue platform, which supports photographers from around the world and showcases diverse visual storytelling. Being part of these exhibitions is both an honour and a reminder of why I fell in love with photography in the first place — to capture moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
How Exhibitions Influence My Photography
Visiting photography and other exhibitions is one of the ways I stay creatively inspired as a photographer. Seeing how other artists use light, composition and storytelling often influences how I approach my own editorial portrait photography and cinematic imagery.
If you happen to be visiting the Glasgow Gallery of Photography this month, my photograph is available to purchase directly through the gallery. Prints from the gallery are also archived through the Glasgow Gallery of Photography network, with stockists including The GGOP Bookshop, Streetlevel Photoworks, Stills Library, The National Library of Scotland, The British Library, The National Art Library at the V&A, and The National Archives.
